Câştigătorul turneului va primi 250 de puncte ATP, competiţia atrăgând astfel un tablou de jucători de top din întreaga lume.
Ultima ediţie a acestui turneu a avut loc în anul 2016, la Arenele BNR. Atunci, trofeul era câştigat la simplu de spaniolul Fernando Verdasco, iar la dublu de perechea formată din români Horia Tecău şi Florin Mergea.
Turneul ATP 250 a fost cel mai longeviv eveniment sportiv din România – s-a desfăşurat în 21 de ediţii consecutive, iar biletele pentru ultimele patru ediţii au fost vândute în totalitate. Ediţia din 2016 a turneului de la Bucureşti a fost transmisă de televiziuni din 96 de ţări.
“Am făcut eforturi uriaşe pentru a readuce această competiţie la Bucureşti şi a le oferi o şansă în plus tinerilor sportivi români să performeze în competiţii de talie internaţională. Ne bazăm pe reuşita de excepţie care s-a dovedit a fi competiţia WTA 125 desfăşurată la Centrul Naţional de Tenis, anul curent, şi am încredere că turneul ATP 250 de anul viitor va fi un adevărat succes sub coordonarea aceleiaşi echipe”, a declarat Ion Ţiriac,
Turneul ATP 250 va deschide seria celorlalte turnee ITF organizate în 2024 de către Fundaţia Ţiriac, ca parte din circuitul de turnee Romanian Tennis Series. Acest circuit include şi turneul internaţional WTA Ţiriac Foundation Trophy, precum şi un turneu Challenger de tip ATP, care va avea loc la Braşov.
Seria de turnee din acest an se încheie săptămâna aceasta, la Arad, în incinta Bazei CS UTA, unde în perioada 24 septembrie – 30 septembrie se desfăşoară ultimul turneu ITF din seria de 6 turnee organizate anul acesta, în parteneriat cu Federaţia Română de Tenis.
