Reprezentativa din Costa Rica s-a calificat, marţi, la Cupa Mondială din Qatar, câştigând barajul Concacaf – OFC cu Noua Zeelandă, disputat la Al Rayyan, scor 1-0.

Golul a fost marcat de Campbell, în minutul 3.

În minutul 68, de la neo-zeelandezi a fost eliminat Barbarouses.

Ca urmare a calificării costaricanilor, s-a completat lista participantelor la CM din Qatar: Australia, Iran, Japonia, Qatar (gazdă), Arabia Saudită, Coreea de Sud, Camerun, Ghana, Maroc, Senegal, Tunisia, Canada, Mexic, SUA, Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazilia, Ecuador, Uruguay, Belgia, Croaţia, Danemarca, Anglia, Franţa, Germania, Olanda, Polonia, Portugalia, Serbia, Spania, Elveţia, Ţara Galilor.

Grupele vor fi următoarele:

Grupa A: Qatar, Ecuador, Senegal, Olanda

Grupa B: Anglia, Iran, SUA, Ţara Galilor

Grupa C: Argentina, Arabia Saudită, Mexic, Polonia

Grupa D: Franţa, Australia, Danemarca, Tunisia

Grupa E: Spania, Costa Rica, Germania, Japonia

Grupa F: Belgia, Canada, Maroc, Croaţia

Grupa G: Brazilia, Serbia, Elveţia, Camerun

Grupa H: Portugalia, Ghana, Uruguay, Coreea de Sud

Competiţia din Qatar va avea loc în perioada 21 noiembrie – 18 decembrie.
