Creşterea preţurilor la energie a dus costurile la electricitate în Europa la cel mai ridicat nivel din ultimii ani şi este puţin probabil ca situaţia să se schimbe până la finele anului, ceea ce înseamnă facturi mari cu încălzirea la iarnă pentru consumatori.
Aceste evoluţii au determinat unele state membre să ceară un răspuns la nivelul UE, iar Spania, Italia şi Grecia au propus ca ţările UE să achiziţioneze în comun gaze pentru a forma rezerve strategice.
Pe termen scurt, este dificilă renunţarea la folosirea gazelor, a explicat Draghi.
În 13 octombrie, Comisia Europeană a prezentat un set de măsuri temporare pe care le sugerează statelor membre în ideea de a amortiza impactul creşterii excepţionale a preţurilor la energie la nivel mondial, printre acestea numărându-se sprijinul de urgenţă pentru venituri acordat consumatorilor casnici, ajutoare de stat pentru întreprinderi şi reduceri specifice în materie de taxe şi impozite.
Printre măsurile naţionale pe termen scurt se numără sprijinul de urgenţă pentru venituri acordat consumatorilor casnici, ajutoare de stat pentru întreprinderi şi reduceri specifice în materie de taxe şi impozite.
