Doi agenţi de securitate au fost ucişi, marţi, de un bărbat înarmat în campusul unei universităţi private din Virginia, Statele Unite, în timp ce un elev a fost împuşcat şi un altul rănit în faţa unei şcoli din Minnesota, potrivit AFP.
„Un nou atac fără sens a luat viaţa a doi curajoşi ofiţeri”, a scris pe Twitter preşedintele Joe Biden. „Violenţa prin arme de foc contra forţelor de ordine este josnică şi trebuie să înceteze”.
Cei doi agenţi ucişi în Virginia, identificaţi drept John Painter şi J. J. Jefferson de preşedintele Universităţii Bridgewater, au intervenit după-amiază după ce le-a fost semnalat un bărbat „suspect” în campus. „După o scurtă discuţie, suspectul a deschis focul şi a tras în cei doi poliţişti”, a precizat purtătorul de cuvânt al Poliţiei din Virginia, Corinne Geller, într-o conferinţă de presă. El a fugit înainte de a fi arestat.
Mobilul presupusului atacatorului, Alexander Wyatt Campbell, 27 de ani, rezident în Virginia, rămâne necunoscut. El a fost rănit de glonţ fără ca forţele de ordine în acest stadiu dacă şi-a provocat rănirea sau dacă a fost lovit în timpul unui posibil schimb de focuri cu cei doi agenţi ucişi. El a fost îngrijit la spital înainte de a fi acuzat pentru patru fapte şi închis fără posibilitatea de a fi eliberat pe cauţiune, a indicat Corinne Geller.
În Richfield, Minnesota, doi elevi au fost loviţi de gloanţe dup-amiază în momentul în care se aflau pe trotuar, aproape de intrarea în şcoala lor, a indicat Poliţia locală. „Unul dintre cei doi elevi a murit ca urmare a rănilor, celălalt rămâne în stare critică”, a precizat Poliţia. Două persoane au fost arestate şi o armă recuperată.
Potrivit ziarului StarTribune, adolescentul ucis era lui lui Cortez Rice, militant în cadrul mişcării „Black Lives Matter”.
