Uniunea Europeană plănuieşte să trimită Ucrainei un nou ajutor militar, în valoare de 500 de milioane de euro, pentru ca aceasta să se poată apăra împotriva atacurilor Rusiei, a declarat vineri, la Bruxelles, un oficial al UE, potrivit DPA.
De asemenea, urmează să se decidă alte 45 de milioane de euro pentru instruirea soldaţilor ucraineni în cadrul noii misiuni de pregătire a UE.
Decizia ar urma să fie aprobată la o reuniune a miniştrilor de externe din UE care va avea loc luni, la Bruxelles.
UE a trimis până acum şase pachete de ajutor militar pentru a finanţa arme şi echipamente pentru Ucraina, în valoarea totală de 3,1 miliarde de euro.
Banii vin dintr-un nou fond al UE pentru rambursarea statelor membre pentru că le furnizează partenerilor UE arme sau echipament. Fondul era prevăzut iniţial cu 5 miliarde de euro, însă în decembrie a mai primit o suplimentare de 2 miliarde de euro.
